ACCOUNTANT-Bauchi
Specific Duties/Responsibilities
The Accountant will be responsible for the following:
- Provide functional support for RTI\'s finance and accounting function.
- Process expense reports, travel advances and liquidations,
prepare payment vouchers and review supporting documents for accuracy
and completeness.
- Ensure that all financial transactions are completed with
high degree of accuracy in compliance with USG and RTI policies,
procedures and terms of the agreement.
- Regularly update QuickBooks and carry out bank
reconciliations including reconcile outstanding vendor/staff advances,
monitor project expenses and track expenditure and accruals.
- Perform cash management functions required in the maintaining RTI bank accounts.
- Assist the Senior Director of Finance in the analysis, development and documentation of internal processes and controls.
- Prepare local staff payroll and accompanying schedules and
ensure compliance with all project legal requirements, including
employee taxes, and pension fund contributions.
Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree/HND in Accounting.
- Minimum of 5 years experience ICAN /ACA or ACCA Chartered Accountancy certification desired
- Strong analytical and numeracy skills as well as be ability
to demonstrate experience of working with computerized accounting
packages and spreadsheets with ability to transfer these skills to
other users.
- Experience with QuickBooks required.
- Experience with USAID rules and regulations.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent ream player who works well independently.
